BIOGRAPHY
The Roadrunners are a group of musicians that have been around for some time.
They are all note sidemen who have joined forces to play the kind of music they love : Blues, Jump and Boogie Woogie.
Pianist Jay Spell began his career in the late 60s on Excello Records with Kip Anderson and went on to become a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Canned Heat and Tower of Power.
Bassist Bob Kommersmith has worked with Paul Frost, Sam Lay and Clifford Curry to name a few.
Sax player Dennis Taylor has played with Gatemouth Brown, Buckwheat Zydeco, Eric Clapton, The Muscle Shoals Horn and many others.
Singer Mello Mel Owens was featured in The Rascals reunion tour filling in for Eddie Brigatti and playing percussion.
Andy Arrow plays drums with Earl Gaines among others and Gary Bohannon is the guitar player with Roscoe Shelton's band "The Excellos".

REVIEW
This is their first album and it feature a few old songs and a bunch of new songs written for this project. A little history lesson and a new slant on a classic theme.
This band plays this music with such effortless conviction that it's hard to believe this is a new recording. The album was recorded live, with minimal overdubs, with all of the musicians together in the same room. Just like the original Jum recordings of the 40s and 50s. Be looking for big things from this band. The Roadrunners are just getting started, and moving fast!
