BIOGRAPHY
Hosea was born in 1927 in Althermer, Arkansas, the blues he holds from his father himself blues player in the 20s / 30s; he teaches him the guitar from an early age. At the end of the 40s he animated local events and joined the US Army in 1950 and perfected his guitar playing.In 1954, with his brother Calvin, they formed a group "The Leavy Brothers Band" which will have a great local success before settling in California.
1968 is the consecration for the Leavy brothers with "Cummins Prison Farm" a title that will sell well and even inspire a film with Robert Redford "Brubaker".
Hosea recorded solo in 1969 with the harmonicist Willie Cobbs, in 1977 he is permanently installed in Reno in California where he occupies a good place on the blues scene of the city.
In the 1990s, drummer Chris Millar produced sessions with Hosea that led to his only CD, You Gotta Move, and a collaboration with Harmonica Slim "Cold Tacos and Warm Beer". He has also recorded some titles in the CD West Fresno Blues Masters, there are also some good titles on cassette.
Hosea died in 2008 of liver cancer at the age of 80.
