(Mary Lynn Clovers)
(a.k.a. Marylin Scott)
(6CD/LP)
 BIOGRAPHY
Mary was born Mary Lynn Clowers on January 4, 1923 to John Wesley and Kate Clowers. Mary Lynn is clearly where the first half of her secular pseudonym comes from. It’s not known why she combined it with Scott. She probably became Deloatch by the early 50s which was the name she used during her professional gospel career.

An early mention of her as  singer/guitarist has her working in a carnival as Marylin Scott. Her first record “Straighten Him Out b/w Another Woman’s Man” was cut for the Free label in 1950, with another song, “The Monkey Song” cut the same year for the label with another artist on the flip.

Also in 1950, she cut some gospel sides for the label. When cutting blues her records were credited as Marylyn Scott, The Carolina Blues Girl.
